The university cities of Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds have formed the beginnings of a startup ecosystem with their partnership in investment fund Northern Gritstone.
When Duncan Johnson, CEO of Northern Gritstone, started his role a year ago as head of a fund that supports university spinouts and startups in the north of England, he set a goal to create a ‘Silicon Valley of the North’.
He talks to Global Corporate Venturing about its success so far in forming an innovation hub with its partners, the universities of Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield.
