Pharmaceutical firm Asahi Kasei Pharma has joined Nissay Capital, NCB Venture Capital and SMBC Venture Capital, respective subsidiaries of insurer Nippon Life and financial services firms Nishi-Nippon City Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, in a ¥3.86bn ($30.3m) series B round for Luca Science, the Japan-based developer of a mitochondria biopharmaceutical agent. DCI Partners, 4Bio Capital and Fast Track Initiative co-led the round, which included Remiges Ventures, Nippon Venture Capital and QB Capital.

Indonesia-based, millennial and generation Z-focused media platform IDN Media has raised $23m in a series D round co-led by conglomerate Mayapada and investment firm KMIF, Daily Social has reported. Marketing firm Dentsu Group and financial services firm Bank OCBC NISP’s OCBC NISP Ventura unit also took part, as did East Ventures and V Media Ventures.
