Food ordering service Zomato has acquired portfolio company Blinkit, an India-based quick grocery delivery service backed by telecommunications group SoftBank and media company Bennett Coleman & Co, for about Rs 44.5bn ($568m). The transaction was initially reported in March this year to be between $700m and $750m in size.
Staff management service PagarBook has agreed to buy Vara Technologies, a Singapore-based, Indonesia-focused peer backed by investors including ride hailing service Gojek’s Go-Ventures subsidiary, for Rs 437m ($5.6m), Entrackr reported on Friday.
Diversified service app operator Careem acquired Munch:On, the United Arab Emirates-based food delivery subscription service that counted utility services provider Abu Nayyan Holding among its backers, for an undisclosed sum last Friday. Formerly known as Lunch:On, the company had raised $5.5m in a 2019 series A round featuring Abu Nayyan.

AirCloset, the Japan-based fashion accessory subscription service backed by construction firm Daiwa House, payment services group Credit Saison’s Saison Ventures unit, laundry services provider Nakazono Holdings, warehousing service Terrada Warehouse, quantitative trading firm Susquehanna International Group, logistics services provider Global Logistic Properties’ Monoful subsidiary, conglomerate Sumitomo and financial services firm Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, has been approved to list on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The company’s market capitalisation post-IPO is set to reach $47.5m.
