M&A
Genome analysis technology developer Bionano Genomics agreed to acquire Purigen Biosystems, the US-based provider of an automated nucleic acid extraction and purification system that counts diagnostics services group Agilent Technologies and pharmaceutical firm Roche as investors, for up to $64m. Agilent led a $26.4m series B round for the company in 2019 that took its total funding to over $45m.
Automotive lidar and advanced driver-assistance system developer MicroVision has agreed to acquire certain assets from Ibeo Automotive Systems, a Germany-based peer backed by automotive component producer ZF, for up to €15m ($14.2m). ZF had a 40% stake in Ibeo as of 2016.
Kraken, a subsidiary of renewable energy provider Octopus Energy Group, purchased Depsys, a Switzerland-based energy management software provider backed by energy utility Statkraft, for an undisclosed amount. Depsys had raised over $18m as of a 2019 series B round.
Fund
Italian electronics humidification and evaporative cooling system provider Carel has formed Genuine Carel Services, a cybersecurity and blockchain-focused startup scouting scheme. The corporate has teamed up with innovation software and accelerator group SkipsoLabs for the initiative, which is open until February 2023 to local and international entrepreneurs.
Divestment
Japanese telecommunications and internet conglomerate SoftBank has sold 50% of its stake in PolicyBazaar, an India-listed insurance policy aggregator owned by insurance group PB Fintech, for $130m.
