M&A
Learning management group Instructure has acquired LearnPlatform, a US-based educator support system provider that counts educational product provider Kaplan and telecommunications firm AT&T as investors, for an undisclosed amount. Both took part in its last disclosed round, a $3.2m round in 2018.
Genetic testing service Prenetics has agreed to buy ACT Genomics, the Taiwan-based cancer molecular analysis technology developer backed by insurance firm Aflac, semiconductor foundry UMC and science park operator Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, for an undisclosed sum. It had raised over $20m before adding an undisclosed amount in 2020.
Skincare product maker Beiersdorf has agreed to purchase a majority stake in portfolio company S-Biomedic, a Belgium-based skin microbiome researcher backed by pharmaceutical firm, Johnson & Johnson, for an undisclosed amount. Beiersdorf and Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JJDC were among the investors that supplied $2.3m for S-Biomedic in 2018.
Consulting group Protiviti has agreed to pay an undisclosed amount to acquire R2integrated, a US-based digital customer experience agency backed by diversified financial services provider Orix Corporation. Orix subsidiary Orix Private Equity provided an undisclosed sum in 2013 before it raised $3.6m from a single unnamed investor two years later.
Financial and identity verification technology producer Giesecke+Devrient has paid an undisclosed sum to double its stake in portfolio company Netcetera, a Switzerland-based web hosting services software provider, from 30% to 60%. The initial investment came in September 2020.
