Marinus Oosterbeek and Vincent Baillin, co-heads of Opera Tech Ventures, make up one of the 100 leading corporate venturing professionals in our 2025 Powerlist.

Marinus Oosterbeek (pictured left) and Vincent Baillin (pictured right) took over the helm of French bank BNP Paribas’ CVC unit Opera Tech Ventures (OTV) earlier this year, after a structural reshuffle that saw the unit come under the umbrella of the bank’s newly formed venture and impact platform.

Baillin joined Opera Tech Ventures as principal in 2019, a year after the unit was founded, before being promoted to investment director in January 2023. Oosterbeck, the unit’s first international hire based in Amsterdam, was promoted to co-head directly from his role as principal, which he began in early 2024 after three years at ABN AMRO Ventures, where he was first senior associate then associate director.

“I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to co-lead the fund with my colleague Marinus and double down on our mission to invest in the transformation of the financial services,” said Baillin when the move was announced in March. “We will pursue the development of OTV, surrounded by our talented team.”

“Our ambition is to strengthen Opera Tech Ventures’ position as a leading investor in fintech, insurtech and adjacent sectors, while continuing to support entrepreneurs and innovation.”

“We have been given the humbling mission of leading BNP Paribas’ corporate VC, dedicated to fintech and beyond,” said Oosterbeek.

OTV typically makes between three and five investments each year, focusing on fintech companies between series A and series C. The unit’s most recent investments include buy-now-pay-later platform provider Hokodo – whose round it led – as well as real estate wealth management platform provider PropHero, cybersecurity insurance provider Stoik, climate risk coverage provider Arbol, and carbon accounting software developer Plan A.

“By positioning Opera Tech Ventures within [the] private assets’ venture and impact platform, we are committed to the growth of a dedicated innovation and venture capital team,” says Yann Lagalaye, head of venture and impact at BNP Paribas, of the new structure.

“Our ambition is to strengthen Opera Tech Ventures’ position as a leading investor in fintech, insurtech and adjacent sectors, while continuing to support entrepreneurs and innovation.”
