Jaidev Shergill, managing partner at Capital One Ventures, has run the corporate venture capital arm of US-based financial services firm Capital One for more than a decade.
Capital One Ventures is a multi-stage, strategic investor focused on technology, data and financial services. The unit is involved in venture investments and commercial engagements with the startups in its portfolio. The team prioritises building relationships with the parent company and portfolio startups. Around 60% of the startups in the portfolio have a broader relationship with Capital One.

The strategic investing arm of Capital One was launched in 2014 and focuses on developing opportunities for acceleration of key priority areas for Capital One. Since its launch, Capital One Ventures has made more than 100 investments.
In April, the unit participated in connected banking firm Atomic’s $10m investment round, with the equity supporting further innovation and expansion. So far in 2025, Capital One Ventures has backed Gable, a data management platform for collaborative quality assurance, Plural, a platform for the management of Kubernetes clusters, GetReal Security, a provider of authentication and verification of digital content against malicious generative AI threats, and Ethos, a developer of a platform for managing model risk in financial institutions.
Another notable investment was Observe, which closed a $115m series B round last year. Observe provides a centralised data layer to organise telemetry data from various sources, helping drive faster response times. Capital One Ventures also invested in Glean’s $200m series D round, which brings generative AI experiences to businesses. In October last year, the unit also invested in threat-informed defence company Tidal Cyber.
Prior to joining Capital One through the acquisition of a startup he founded called Bundle, Shergill held various leadership roles at Citigroup, including president of Citi Ventures, executive vice president of digital innovation and vice president of North America consumer. He started his financial career as an M&A investment banking associate at Credit Suisse First Boston and as a financial services management consultant at Deloitte and FMCG Direct.
