Allison Goldberg, senior vice president and managing partner at Comcast Ventures, is one of the 100 leading corporate venturing professionals in our 2025 Powerlist.

Allison Goldberg leads a close-knit team at Comcast Ventures, the investment arm of the US media and technology company. Employees are together in the office four days a week and everyone is invited to meetings. “We spend a lot of time together,” says Goldberg, who has led the corporate VC unit for the past three-and-a-half years.
The Comcast Ventures team focuses on sectors that it sees as growth areas adjacent to the parent company’s core connectivity and platforms and content and experiences businesses. Healthtech, proptech and energy and sustainability are some of the areas it sees as having investment potential.
“These are interesting sectors that are growing and where we feel we have a right to play, given our core business,” says Goldberg.
AI is another area of focus. In the past year, Comcast Ventures invested in Cresta, a generative AI technology that assists customer service and sales agents. In the healthtech area, it invested in Sword, a startup that uses AI to assist in-home physical therapy. In energy and sustainability, it invested in Haven, a company that helps consumers pair home battery systems with solar panels.
“These are interesting sectors that are growing and where we feel we have a right to play, given our core business.”
Despite the overvaluations in the AI startup sector, Goldberg says there are valuable investments to be made. “We evaluate each deal on its merits and the traction it has with customers. We are looking for investments that can create financial returns in addition to being strategic,” she says.
The ventures unit works closely with business units at Comcast. It has an advisory board that it set up which meets a few times a year and includes executives from the business units. “They help us think through what the right focus areas are,” says Goldberg. “We are always sharing companies and ideas with them, and they are doing the same with us, as they tell us what their growth strategies are for the next 12 to 24 months.”
Executives of the business units also help do due diligence on potential investments.
Before joining Comcast Ventures, Goldberg ran the strategic investing arm of Time Warner, where she worked for more than 17 years.
