Adam Coccari, managing director of HubSpot Ventures, is one of the 100 leading corporate venturing professionals in our 2025 Powerlist.

Adam Coccari joined HubSpot Ventures in October last year. Prior to HubSpot Ventures, he served as the managing director for Intuit Ventures and also spent six years as an operating partner at M12, Microsoft’s ventures fund.

HubSpot Ventures is part of HubSpot’s corporate development group and reports to the chief financial officer. The team invests from an evergreen fund in startups building software to help businesses grow and supports them through access to HubSpot and its ecosystem.

The fund currently has 61 active portfolio companies and invests with initial cheques between $1m and $10m. HubSpot Ventures invests from seed to series C, specifically focused on intelligent apps for small and medium-sized businesses, AI and agent development tools, fintech and data infrastructure.

“The impetus for the fund was to find and support innovative startups that are interested in building on the platform and doing great things for our customers,” says Coccari.

He says that AI agents will dramatically improve the operational efficiency of small business owners and is focused on finding founders who are using AI to help them automate workflows and operate with the same level of sophistication as a large company such as HubSpot.

“At HubSpot Ventures we believe AI agents will change how businesses of all sizes operate, but especially SMBs.”

“At HubSpot Ventures we believe AI agents will change how businesses of all sizes operate, but especially SMBs. And it is not just go-to-market: agents can provide small businesses with critical expertise across other disciplines that were once out of reach.”

Before getting into venture capital, Coccari honed his coaching skills while working as a fourth and sixth grade maths teacher in California. Coccari designed an app to help make maths practice more fun and engaging for school children. The app had some success on the App Store and “led to a passion for building software startups and entrepreneurship,” says Coccari.
