CDIB Capital Group, a subsidiary of Taiwan's KGI Financial Holdings, has launched a $62m joint fund with a Japanese state-backed investment company.

CDIB Capital Group, a venture capital arm of Taiwanese financial conglomerate KGI Financial Holdings, and Cool Japan Fund, a Japanese state-backed investment company, have launched a joint fund to build a startup ecosystem between Japan and Taiwan.

The CDIB Cross Border Innovation Fund has raised $62m so far, with plans for it to reach between $75m and $100m. It will invest in startups in the mobile commerce, digital transformation, AI, blockchain and lifestyle sectors.

Other contributors to the fund include Himax, a Taiwanese semiconductor company, and Systex, an IT service provider also based in Taiwan.

CDIB Capital Group was founded in 1959. It has more than 200 portfolio companies, with over $2.3bn in assets under management. In May 2024, it took part in the $51m series B funding round for TX One Network, a Taiwanese cybersecurity company.
