Danilo Gaspar has been hired by the Brazilian medical education and digital health tool provider as head of corporate venture capital.

Photo courtesy of LinkedIn Gaspar has been tasked with setting up a CVC structure for Afya, which offers medical training in addition to digital health tools that help users strengthen the medical services they offer. Media group Bertelsmann held a 31% stake in the company as of May this year. Afya already maintains a vehicle called Afya Ventures and has used it to incubate three startups – Plantonist, RadioMed and Volver – according to its website. Gaspar had spent two and a half years as a startup investor and portfolio manager at healthcare provider Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein’s technology development subsidiary, Eretz.bio, until March 2021. He co-founded Vitalicia, a developer of decentralised messaging software for use in healthcare, in 2019.
