Panasonic and Pentalog were among the investors in a series A round that followed an undisclosed amount of seed funding two years ago.

US-based customer engagement software developer BlueFox has received $7m in series A funding from a consortium including electronics manufacturer Panasonic and IT services provider Pentalog.

The round also featured venture capital firms Baseline Ventures and NewGen Capital, the latter of which had taken part in a seed round of undisclosed size in mid-2015, along with Pentalog, Bleu Capital and Polytech Ecosystem Ventures.

BlueFox has built a cloud platform that helps brick-and-mortar retailers engage with their customers more effectively through smartphones without the need to use a dedicated app.

Patrick Suel, senior venture partner at Panasonic, said: “BlueFox.io technology has a number of applications, not only in retail but also in numerous connected domains that we believe the market will soon adopt.”
