Suat Topsu, a professor at University of Paris-Saclay, has been appointed president of Satt IDF Innov, one of France’s regional tech transfer organisations.
Satt IDF Innov, one of France’s regional tech transfer offices and part of the Satt Network, today named Suat Topsu as its new president.
Topsu is a research professor at University of Paris-Saclay specialising in atomic physics, lasers, general theory of relativity, nanotechnology and optical wireless communication technologies.
Topsu has been a professor at University of Paris Saclay since 2008, after spending more than seven years as maître des conferences – an academic rank in France below that of professor – at Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University.
His achievements include the invention of lifi, a wireless communication technology that relies on LED lights, in 2005 and the foundation of Oledcomm in 2012 to commercialise the technology. Lifi is also being commercialised separately by University of Edinburgh spinout PureLifi.
Topsu remained president of Oledcomm until May 2018, leaving shortly before accepting the position as president of IDF Innov.
Satt IDF Innov has invested more than €27m ($31.6m at current rates), signed 62 licences with enterprises and formed 13 spinouts to date.
