Research institute DFKI has launched a spinout to deliver robotics and AI-based technologies originating from its Bremen-based Robotics Innovation Centre.

The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) today formally unveiled Germany-based spinout Raise Robotics tasked with commercialising advances in robotics and artificial intelligence.
Raise Robotics’ other founding partners include its scientific co-founders, in addition to Bremen’s senatorial authorities for science, health and consumer protection, and for economic affairs, labour and ports.
The spinout will look to deliver products that leverage a range of digital, robotic and artificial intelligence-based technologies with the aim of bringing economic benefits to Bremen, such as new jobs and the ability to retain skilled graduates.
Bremen is home to the institute’s Robotics Innovation Centre, whose head, Frank Kirchner, will be involved with Raise Robotics.
Raise Robotics’ other scientific co-founders are Rolf Drechsler, head of the cyber-physical systems program, Joachim Hertzberg, DFKI’s lead for plan-based robot control, and Bernd Krieg-Brückner, whose work focuses on safe systems, cyber-physical systems and ambient assisted living.
