Mobile payments platform Carta Worldwide has raised $7m from DC Thomson and Difference Capital in the first tranche of its series D funding.

Renren led the online financial data company's series C round, which increased its overall funding to more than $53m.

The internet company has now made about $300m in total from share sales in publicly traded payment company Qiwi.
