The Leadership Society has been invaluable in fostering a
network of like-minded corporate venture professionals who are dedicated to driving innovation and growth. The insights and shared experiences from other leaders have influenced some of M12’s own strategic decisions. Specific events such as GCVI Summit and the various workshops have provided M12 with unique opportunities to connect with experts and peers. Being part of the GCV Leadership Society provides connection with other CVCs and the possibility to share insights, challenges, learnings, and deals. It has been invaluable. This network offers a unique opportunity to gain diverse perspectives and foster collaborative opportunities that drive mutual growth and success. The events in Monterey and Sao Paulo have been pivotal to our operations, offering key connections, the ability to benchmark our structure, and identify key partners. These events facilitated direct engagement with industry leaders and provided actionable insights for strategic development.
For me, the key has been “community” much of which has gone beyond regular professionalism. There’s no question that CVC, particularly in aerospace has been a rollercoaster this last few years. The openness and generosity with which other members, and the GCV have welcomed both me and my whole team has been wonderful. In particular the focused effort on supporting and encouraging women in CVC, our mentorship from Amy Burr, just having a seat at the table to hear the unvarnished perspectives of both newcomer and veterans CVCs from across the globe has been invaluable. Working in this space, especially inside the Parent company, is tough! It takes way more resilience than anyone imagines, so having a community of support, with similar experiences, similar objectives is crucial to being able to thrive - support our portfolio companies and have some fun along the way!
