Alongside Comcast Ventures in the round were venture capital firms Catalyst Investors, which led, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Valhalla Partners and Pinnacle Ventures.

Prior to the deal, Wheelz had raised nearly $16m from VC firms Felicis Ventures, Social + Capital Partnership and Fontinalis Partners and Zipcar, a car rental service acquired by peer Avis.

Japan-based online learning service startup Mana.bo has raised Y38m ($374,000) in seed funding from several investors including CyberAgent Ventures, according to a Ventures News report.

The target company is Smarteducation, a Japan start-up that develops bi-lingual mobile apps for childhood education including apps such as Oyako de Sumahon in Japanese and Kids'n Books in English.

News of the proposed acquisition have boosted shares in Nasdaq-listed AutoNavi by more than 30% since the start of May and stand at about $14.77 per share.

Mobile location intelligence tools provider PlaceIQ, backed by corporate venturing unit kbs+ Ventures, takes its total funding raised to $11.95m.

In 2011, Movable Ink raised $1.3m in its A round.
