Discount perks platform AnyPerk has raised $1.4m in series A funding from Digital Garage, Ben Lewis, Michael Liou, CyberAgentVenture and Shogo Kawada.

Venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners led the A round, which also included Google chairman Eric Schmidt's investment fund Innovation Endeavors and media group New York Times Company.

Last year, Bitbar, which provides the Testdroid platform, raised an undisclosed amount in its seed round from Seed Fund Vera and five angels, including Frederic Lardieg, then a principal at corporate venturing unit Vodafone Ventures before his move to VC firm Octopus.

Crowdtilt, a US-based online service for crowd funding, has raised $12m in its series A round from a consortium including CrunchFund, backed by media group AOL.

The other named investor in the round was Chang You Fund, which had seeded the company and is angel fund of Zhi Tan the former chief executive of Focus Media.

Gene control life sciences company Syros Pharmaceuticals has raised its first ever round of funding with a $30m series A round from Flagship Ventures, Arch Venture Partners and WuXi PharmTech Corporate Venture Fund.

STC Ventures Fund said it now had a "significant minority stake" in Acadox, which recently graduated from the New Ventures & Entrepreneurship Program of King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (Kaust).

Plain Vanilla, a publisher of social trivia games, has raised $2.4m in an A round of funding from backers which include Greycroft Partners, Tencent, BOLDStart Ventures, IDG Ventures, CrunchFund, Mesa Global and Riot Games.
