The initial commitments have come from four leading Indian financial/government institutions with the alumni from the IITs and other angel investors also joining.

The main categories for capital investments include commercial stage biopharmaceutical and medical device companies in need of growth capital, and universities/inventors looking to monetize product interests.

Norway-based energy companies Hafslund and Eidsiva are combining their corporate venturing activities with the aim of increasing clean technology growth in the region.

PTC India, a provider of power trading solutions in the country, has reportedly agreed to set up a private equity fund with an unnamed sovereign wealth fund, according to the chairman of the state-run power trading company.
