The story y was confirmed by Transcosmos, in a summary of its investments, which shows it backed 500 Startups in 2011, after news provider Nikkei reported 500 Startups' tie-up with Japanese start-ups in June.

The investors include consumer goods maker Proctor and Gamble, whose former head of innovation, Jeffrey Weedman, now runs Cintrifuse.
