Global Corporate Venturing has researched the status of most of the corporate venturing-backed companies that have filed or been reported as eyeing an imminent flotation.

The energy company backed by corporate venturing unit Energy Technology Ventures and venture firm Kleiner Perkins raised $26.5m in venture funding between November 2006 and May 2011.

Nasdaq-listed solar panel producer Canadian Solar bought SpectraWatt after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August.

Inge's investors included Siemens Venture Capital, the corporate venturing unit of local conglomerate Siemens, and venture capital firms BayTech Venture Capital, Emerald Technology Ventures, Entrepreneurs Fund, Stone Fund and Taprogge.

Olivier Glauser, a venture partner and managing director of Steamboat Ventures in China, has left to join a start-up while the corporate venturing unit has separately sold 56.com to Renren.

The purchase price comprises $1.1m in cash and about 5.3 million shares of Wave's common stock valued at $2.21 each.

Brian O'Kelley, founder and chief executive of AppNexus, told newswire Bloomberg: "The financials, the revenue, the profit and the growth are all strong enough that we could be going public as soon as late next year."

In 2007, South Africa-based media group Naspers had acquired 30% of MXit through its corporate venturing unit, Myiad International Holdings.

GoAhead raised its $3.3m in January 2002's series D round from venture capital firms Cedar Grove Investments, Columbia Capital and Voyager Capital and corporate venturing units from Motorola and Intel.

Last month, Salesforce had integrated with Assistly before buying the company, after previously been part of the consortium backing Assistly, which had been founded in 2009.
