GE Energy Financial Services, a unit of US-listed industrial conglomerate General Electric, has backed SustainX last year as part of the first tranche of money from its $200m Ecomagination corporate venturing fund.

Veolia Innovation Accelerator has partnered five companies, including Envolure, a France-based environmental analysis maker, software company Cosmo, Canada-based Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies, GreenRoad, a US fuel-saving start-up, and Advanced Cyclone Systems, a Portugual-based company to filter industrial pollutants.

According to a regulatory filing, $122m has come from 36 investors after advice from Advanced Equities, compared to last month's update when $89.6m had been raised from 28 investors against a targeted $100m round.

Google Ventures extends CoolPlanetBioFuels B round to about $20m.

Solazyme, a US-based developer of biofuels through the use of algae, said it had raised $129.3m in equity and its strategic investors were Bunge, Chevron, Unilever and San-Ei Gen ahead of its $100m flotation.

The corporate venturing units backing Alta in the round are: Energy Technology Ventures, a $300m corporate venturing joint venture launched in January by industrial conglomerate General Electric (GE), energy utility NRG Energy and oil major ConocoPhillips; power holding company Constellation Energy; Japan-based conglomerate Sumitomo's Presidio Ventures; and Dow Chemical's Dow Venture Capital.

Monsanto has agreed to take equity in and use Sapphire Energy's algae-based research to discover genes that could be applied to agriculture, particularly in the field of yield and stress.

A report distributed by Venture Nashville Connections said Genera Energy was raising money from third parties for its fund.

IPV Capital and Qian Neng Fund emerge from China to back US-based Amprius.

Family office Black Coral Capital led the round for Powerit Solutions with a consortium including Germany-based conglomerate Siemens, steel company ArcelorMittal's Clean Technology Fund, and venture capital firms @Ventures and Expansion Capital Partners.
