A division of Hitachi Capital America Corp, Hennessey Capital, has led a $23m Series B round into US-based eco bus company Proterra.

Monsanto has invested in a $7m A round and entered into a license agreement with sustainable lubricant company Biosynthetic Technologies.

Speaking at the Open Innovation forum in Moscow, Alexey Kalinin, Rosatom project director, said: "We are in a tender process to appoint a general partner (GP) to manage the fund and hope to close in early 2013 with $250m to $300m."

A123 Systems is selling its assets to US-based industrial group Johnson Controls for $125m, which has agreed to provide A123 with $72.5m in debtor in possession financing which would allow the company to keep operating during the bankruptcy proceedings.
