The California-based developer of educational robots raised $8m in a round backed by VC firms Madrona and Charles River.

Emotient, a developer of facial recognition technology, has now secured $8m in total, with Intel investing in both its main venture capital rounds.

The therapeutic programme provider has now raised $9m after completing a series B round that also included Sandbox Industries and existing investor .406 Ventures.
