Retail analytics software developer Profitect has agreed to a purchase by existing investor Zebra Technologies that will also enable Motorola Solutions to exit.

Marking, tracking and computer printing technologies producer Zebra Technologies is set to acquire US-based business intelligence software developer Profitect for an undisclosed amount, allowing communications equipment provider Motorola Solutions to exit.

Profitect has built a prescriptive analytics platform aimed at the retail and consumer packaged goods industries, facilitating tasks such as maintaining inventory and pricing accuracy, identifying unsellable merchandise and detecting assortment discrepancies.

Zebra will use Profitect’s technology and staff to accelerate the development of its business intelligence tool, Savanna.…
