US-based phone operator Verizon Communications’ corporate venturing unit has backed Nomad Innovation, a local provider of the LiveEdge wireless newsgathering technology.
The investment was arranged through Verizon Communications’ Verizon Ventures group and is meant to help the certification, production and sales of additional versions of LiveEdge using Verizon’s fourth-generation Long Term Evolution (4G LTE) network for live broadcast of news and event coverage.
Nomad and Verizon started working together at Verizon Wireless’ LTE Innovation Center, established in 2008 to promote 4G LTE.
