The TechCrunch reporter is set to join the corporate venturing unit in order to pursue a project "creating something that has never been developed within a VC firm".

Leena Rao, a senior editor at technology news site TechCrunch, is set to take up a position as an operating partner at Google Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of internet company Google, she announced yesterday.

Rao has been a reporter at TechCrunch since early 2009, after a six-month stint at the San Francisco Business Times and three years working as the director of community outreach for the office of Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney in New York.
