Alongside Syngenta Ventures and Mitsui Global Investment were an undisclosed family investment trust and existing venture capital investors Stuart Mill Venture Partners, Contrarian Group, Saffron Hill Ventures, One Earth Capital, Clean Pacific Ventures and Calvert Social Ventures.
Seeds supplier Syngenta and Japan-based financial services group Mitsui’s corporate venturing units have joined a consortium investing $25.4m in the series C round for Marrone Bio Innovations, a US-based pesticide maker.
The financing is being used to help sell Marrone’s Regalia Biofungicide and launch.
Zequanox, a product for controlling invasive zebra and quagga mussels in fresh waterways, which are regarded as pests.
In March, Syngenta Crop Protection said it would exclusively distribute Regalia in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
