The mobile advertising platform provider Smaato has now raised $40m in total and will invest the funds in improving its automated advertising system.

Singapore-based mobile ad company Smaato raised $25m yesterday in a series E round featuring the country’s largest media company, Singapore Press Holdings.

The round was led by Aeris Capital, the private equity fund that manages the wealth of SAP co-founder Klaus Tschira, while Singaporean state-backed fund EDBI also took part.

Smaato is a mobile real-time bidding exchange and supply-side platform for online advertising. It has over 70,000 publishers monetising their inventory across more than 270 networks and demand-side platforms.

The new funds will be used to develop and grow the company’s self-service automation system.

Smaato raised $7m from EDBI and Aeris Capital in a 2011 series C round and has now secured about $40m in funding altogether.
