Online video-game company Riot Games has expanded into Europe after Tencent backing.

US-based online video-game company Riot Games has expanded into Europe after an $8m corporate venturing investment in September.

Riot, which has just published the League of Legends game, has set up in Ireland after Tencent, China’s largest online services company, joined a consortium alongside venture capital firms Benchmark Capital and Firstmark Capital that invested the $8m in September.

Benchmark and Firstmark had previously invested $7m in July 2008.
