Nasdaq-listed software as a service provider SuccessFactors has agreed to buy Plateau Software, a US-based provider of talent management software for $290m, half in cash.

Founded in 1996, Plateau has 250 customers, including General Electric, the US Air Force, EW Scripps and Thomson Reuters.

Its investors include EuclidSR Partners, a joint venture between venture capital (VC) firm Euclid Partners and drugs company GlaxoSmithKline’s SR One corporate venturing unit, secondaries firm W Capital Partners and investment bank Morgan Stanley, according to the company’s website. Plateau raised $18m in March 2001 from AIG (now PineBridge Investments), EuclidSR Partners and GE Equity, the investment unit of General Electric.
