Paolo di Giorgio, CEO at Angelini Ventures, is one of the 100 leading corporate venturing professionals in our 2026 Powerlist.

Paolo di Giorgio, chief executive of Angelini Ventures, the venture capital arm of Angelini Industries — an international industrial group that operates directly in 21 countries, generating annual revenues of €1.6bn, with operations spanning health (including its pharmaceutical company Angelini Pharma), industrial technology and consumer goods — has had a busy year expanding into the Middle East and Asia, striking new deals and building startups and, perhaps in a signal for the industry more broadly, signing the first deal between a CVC and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The €150m ($175m) partnership will invest in European healthtech startups with Angelini Ventures and the EIB each committing €75m to distribute the money across seven to 10 biotech, medical technology and digital health startups over the next six years.

The co-investments will involve equal amounts from each side for every deal, and Angelini Ventures’ allocation is coming out of its existing €300m fund announced in 2022.

“For us, it’s a very important partnership for multiple reasons – from a purely financial point of view, we have more capital to deploy in Europe,” di Giorgio told GCV at the time of the partnership, announced in November 2025. “It’s quite challenging for companies to raise capital, so this is going to be very impactful and important.”

The first deal the two are collaborating on is for Adcytherix, a French startup developing antibody drug conjugates to treat cancer, where Angelini Ventures co-led its €105m series A round.

The partnership comes amidst a busy year for Angelini Ventures. As of early 2026, the firm has invested roughly €125m across 22 companies, including CoMind and Laigo Bio at the end of last year.

Angelini Ventures has also been actively contributing to the creation of new companies from the ground up through its venture studios, such as Argobio and Extend—both focused on building companies based on European academic biotechnology research.

Beyond Europe, di Giorgio has hired Hamzeh Abdul Hadi as senior principal based in Dubai and opened an office in Singapore to boost its investments in Asian biotech and healthtech startups.
