Mariano Menkes, AVP of corporate development at Enterprise Mobility Ventures, is one of the 100 leading corporate venturing professionals in our 2026 Powerlist.

Mariano Menkes, assistant vice-president of corporate development, leads Enterprise Mobility Ventures (“EMV”), the corporate venture arm of Enterprise Mobility (formerly Enterprise Holdings), which manages the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo brands and is a leading provider of mobility solutions.

In recent years, EMV has evolved from a direct investing model to a hybrid strategy. To support the long-term interest of Enterprise Mobility, it invests in venture capital funds to learn about new emerging trends in mobility and explore adjacent categories. Over time, it develops conviction in specific areas, which can lead to partnership-driven investments.

Once leadership has high conviction in a category, Enterprise Mobility may pursue acquisitions to strengthen or expand the core. Across this framework, investments are primarily driven by strategic value, while also targeting reasonable risk-adjusted financial returns.

EMV has backed eight funds, including Maniv, RPM Ventures, Energy Impact Partners, Thayer Investment Partners and Assembly Ventures, among others. By reviewing the opportunities sourced and analysed by these funds, EMV gains exposure to more than 2,000 startups each year. Understanding the problems these companies are trying to solve and the approaches they take gives EMV an early view of where mobility is headed.

The funds extend valuable access to their broader networks. Through them, EMV has opportunities to engage with decision makers at automakers, insurers, major technology players and other key stakeholders in the mobility ecosystem. When looking to explore a topic more deeply, the funds share their perspectives and expertise with Enterprise Mobility.

EMV complements its fund investments with direct investments, including Booster, a California based mobile fuel and energy delivery company, and Mobi, a leading AI platform for travel and transportation.

In an era where corporate venture capital can feel under pressure to justify its existence, Enterprise Mobility’s model under Menkes represents a more sustainable blueprint: learn through VC funds, support the core business through highly strategic partnership led investments and pursue acquisitions when there is high conviction in a category. EMV has found a framework that delivers meaningful strategic insight, while generating reasonable risk-adjusted financial returns.
