Gabriele Papievyte, head of XTX Ventures, is one of the 100 leading corporate venturing professionals in our 2026 Powerlist.

Gabriele Papievyte took over as head of XTX Ventures, the corporate VC unit of UK algorithmic trading firm XTX Markets, in January 2024 and quickly made it one of the largest local strategic investors in startups.

Founded in 2017, XTX Ventures invests in artificial intelligence, machine learning and technology with a focus on infrastructure, healthcare, enterprise software and financial markets. The team prefers to invest between seed to series B stages and has over 100 portfolio companies at present.

Papievyte also serves on the boards of multiple portfolio companies, including Tenstorrent, Qureight, Oriole Networks and Turbine.

Papievyte joined XTX Ventures in August 2023 as an investment manager. Prior to that, she was an investment associate at VC firm Inovia Capital where she helped launch its European operations.

Some of the unit’s recent deals include Lucida Medical, a UK-based healthcare company using machine learning to accurately diagnose prostate cancer where XTX reportedly holds a 23% stake; Corintis, a Switzerland-based startup developing advanced microfluidic cooling systems to keep next-generation silicon chips and GPUs cool; ElectronX, a US-based power derivatives marketplace aimed at bringing transparency to energy trading; A5X, a Brazilian derivatives exchange seeking to innovate market structure; SPhotonix, a US-based company building high-density optical data storage systems; and InvenireX, a British biotech firm utilising AI to accelerate programmable DNA and RNA discovery.

XTX Ventures also participated in a massive $700m fundraise for the small module nuclear reactor developer X-energy, alongside rival quant firm Jane Street and tech group Amazon, ahead of its blockbuster flotation in April.

Other exits include Prior Labs, a Germany-based AI startup building tabular prediction models for structured data was acquired by tech giant SAP, and Aquis Exchange, from which XTX received £19m for its stake in the London-based challenger stock exchange when it was acquired by the Swiss bourse operator Six Group.

Unlike many corporate funds that oscillate between financial returns and strategic alignment, XTX operates with a more coherent mandate: invest in technical founders who combine deep AI and machine learning expertise with clear conviction.

This positioning places it among a new class of corporate investors, alongside quant firms and engineering-led corporates that bring genuine technical insight and hands-on support rather than just capital. The result is a venture arm that is small, selective and increasingly respected among founders building in hard-to-understand domains.
