Verizon’s corporate venturing arm and Alarm.co helped Origin secure funding that will fund commercialisation of its the motion-sensing technology.

Origin Wireless, a US-based developer of motion-sensing technology, received $14m on Wednesday from investors including home security technology producer Alarm.com and Verizon Ventures, the investment arm of telecommunications company Verizon.

Founded in 2013, Origin is developing a software platform that applies wifi technology to detecting the movement of human beings, for purposes such as detecting home intruders or the breathing of a baby.
