France-based mobile group Orange has launched an African social venture prize run by venture firm Innovacom.

The second Orange African Social Venture Prize will reward three projects or enterprises working on the "bottom of pyramid" market in Africa through technology, Orange said.

Last year more than 600 projects were received from Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Uganda, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius and Botswana.
