Raine Group backs UK games maker Jagex.
UK-based online games publisher Jagex has raised an undisclosed amount from venture capital firm Insight Venture Partners and Spectrum Equity and merchant bank Raine Group.
The company’s flagship massively multi-player online games (MMOG) include RuneScape and War of Legends.
Brandon Gardner, a partner at Raine, who will join the portfolio company’s board alongside colleague John Salter, said: “Jagex is the standout player in one of the most attractive and fastest growing segments of the games industry.”
Raine is a boutique merchant bank focused exclusively on entertainment, digital media and sports and founded in 2009 by Joseph Ravitch and Jeffrey Sine, in partnership with WME Entertainment.
Insight provided initial investment in 2005.
