The series B round follows Holtzbrinck Ventures (HV) spinning out from German media parent Georg von Holtzbrinck Publishing Group.
Wooga, a Germany-based developer of online games whose name stands for world of gaming, has raised $24m in its series B round from local media company Georg von Holtzbrinck Publishing Group’s former corporate venturing unit.
Holtzbrinck Ventures (HV), which became independent in January, reinvested in Wooga, whose B round was led by venture capital firm Highland Capital Partners and joined by peers Tenaya Capital and Balderton Capital. Wooga has created games including the popular Bubble Island (pictured).
