The corporate venturing unit of Google leads the first round of funding for Turntable.fm chief executive's internet music start-up, DJZ.

Google Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of search engine Google, has headed up a $1m round of seed funding for online content start-up DJZ, a US-based website designed to aggregate news and media content centred around DJs and electronic dance music. 

Founder Seth Goldstein is also chief executive officer at Turntable.fm, a social media website that allows users to share music. Turntable.fm gained a $7m round of funding in 2011.
