Digital Garage has contributed to a $20m series B round for EMQ, which will use the cash to drive international growth for its cross-border payment network.

China-based financial settlement network operator EMQ yesterday picked up $20m in a series B round featuring DG Ventures, the investment arm of internet company Digital Garage.

WI Harper led the round, which also included Abu Dhabi Capital, AppWorks, Hard Yaka, Intudo Ventures, January Capital, Quest Venture Partners, SparkLabs Taipei, Vectr Fintech Partners and VS Partners.

EMQ has built a cross-border remittance service for businesses in verticals such e-commerce and procurement. The platform ensures businesses adhere to regulations across different geographies.

The service is currently available to clients in Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia and Canada, and its network spans more than 80 markets across Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe and North America.

The funding will go towards international growth, product development and licensing in additional countries.

EMQ previously raised $6.5m in series A funding from undisclosed venture capital firms in December 2017.
