The European Business Angels Network (EBAN) has published a paper on the European Commission's Europe 2020 strategy for innovation.

EBAN said it supported the Innovation Union to improve framework conditions and access to finance for research and innovation.

However, it said the EC’s proposed Alternative Investment Fund Managers directive could prove "highly damageable to the European venture capital industry and therefore be an impediment to funding early stage high growth companies, including across borders".
