The Kyowon and Al Sayegh-backed children's literacy app developer has raised series B-1 funding that will support the launch of a marketing campaign.

Speakaboos, a US-based educational media provider that counts education services company Kyowon Group as an investor, has secured $12.5m in a series B-1 round led by investment firm Wellington Management Company.

Speakaboos has developed an app with more than 200 interactive stories that help children aged two to six learn how to read.

The round will support marketing and customer acquisition, and was announced in conjunction with the launch of a television advertisement-led marketing campaign.
