Following three-years as a corporate VC, Robert Shepherd will be leading transformation across Grupo Falabella’s finance organisation.

Robert Shepherd has left his role as senior investment manager at SQM Lithium Ventures, the corporate VC arm of Chile-based chemicals company Sociedad Química y Minera.

He has joined retail multinational Grupo Falabella where he will be leading transformation across its finance organisation, including Falabella Retail, Sodimac, Tottus, Banco Falabella and Mallplaza as well as the franchise agreement Falabella has with Swedish retailer Ikea. Shepherd will be focusing transforming operating models, AI transformation and other performance improvements.

Shepherd spent three years as a venture investor at SQM Lithium Ventures where he focused on emerging technologies and businesses shaping the future of energy and mobility.

In the LinkedIn post announcing his move, Shepherd shared that he was “proud of what we built together – designing and launching the fund, investing in 7 companies across 5 countries, and supporting those companies in their expansion.”

Prior to this, he was a strategy and management consultant at Boston Consulting Group and EY.

Founded in 2022, SQM Lithium Ventures invests in scalable technology-based businesses, solving problems related to the lithium value chain (exploration, extraction, processing and refinery, electromobility, batteries and energy storage and recycling). Their preferred investment stage is series A and B.
