LeBlanc joined the team when the fund was in its infancy and has helped it grow into a global brand managing $1.6bn in assets.

Nicole LeBlanc has left her role as partner at Woven Capital, the $1.6bn growth investment arm of carmaker Toyota.

LeBlanc joined the Woven Capital team in Tokyo in 2022, a time “when the fund was in its infancy”, she shared in the LinkedIn post announcing her departure.

“I am proud that I helped grow it into a global brand, tripled the size of the team to over 30 people, and together we built a great investment thesis,” she said.

LeBlanc focused on climate technology and mobility transformation investments across Europe and North America in her role. Her investment thesis centred on the intersection of sustainability, urban innovation and industrial transition – backing founders building the infrastructure for a decarbonised future.

LeBlanc has previously held leadership roles at European climate tech VC 2150, Alphabet’s urban innovation platform Sidewalk Labs and BDC Capital, where she developed deep expertise in early-stage investing, corporate venture strategy and portfolio development. She’s also a founder and investor in sandpiper.vc, a women-led Atlantic Canadian venture fund.

LeBlanc did not disclose her next move.

LeBlanc’s exit follows a series of personnel changes at Woven Capital, following the announcement of a new $800m fund last year and the appointment of Ro Gupta as the new managing director of the fund.

Woven Capital manages $1.6bn in assets across two $800m funds. The unit backs around 20 portfolio companies per fund, with initial cheques typically ranging between $10m and $50m. Woven invests primarily from series B to pre-IPO. Approximately 80% of its portfolio companies have strategic collaborations with the Toyota Group.
