As president of Asia Pacific at Phoenix Tailings, George Kellerman will focus on the company’s strategic growth, customer partnerships and government engagement.

George Kellerman, former managing director of Woven Capital, the $1.6bn growth investment arm of carmaker Toyota, has joined mining company Phoenix Tailings as president of Asia Pacific.
In his new role, Kellerman will be leading Phoenix Tailings’ strategic growth, customer partnerships and government engagement across the Asia Pacific region.
Kellerman, who had founded Woven Capital in 2021, was serving as an advisor to the chief financial officer at Toyota following a leadership change in December 2025 that saw Ro Gupta taking over as managing director of the unit.
Woven Capital manages $1.6bn in assets across two $800m funds. The unit backs around 20 portfolio companies per fund, with initial cheques typically ranging between $10m and $35m. Woven invests primarily from series B to pre-IPO. Approximately 80% of its portfolio companies have strategic collaborations with the Toyota Group.
