Terry Evans Jr, who set up the venture capital investment arm for the customer service software company, is leaving as part of a workforce reduction.

Terry Evans Jr. has announced his departure from AI-powered service platform Zendesk due to a workforce reduction. He was the director of corporate development and head of Zendesk Ventures at the time of his exit.

Evans joined Zendesk in 2021 to formalise its strategic investment practice and launch its corporate VC arm, Zendesk Ventures. He was responsible for building the unit’s investment thesis, governance model, sourcing engine, diligence process and initial portfolio before expanding into broader corporate development leadership.

Zendesk Ventures invests in early to growth-stage private companies globally that are advancing the customer experience, employee experience and generative AI. A typical cheque size can range between $500,000 and $1m and depends on the startup’s stage and the size of the funding round.

Evans did not comment on whether this reduction has affected only his role or the entire Zendesk Ventures team. GCV had received no comment from the company’s press office at the time of publication.
