VMware is buying the computer security company, allowing Intel Capital to make an exit after investing in the company five years ago.

US-based virtualisation software provider VMware has acquired the US-based anti-fraud services provider PacketMotion for an undisclosed amount, leading to an exit for Intel Capital, the corporate venturing unit for the US-based semiconductor maker.

Intel Capital had invested in both of PacketMotion’s series B rounds, which raised $14m in August 2005 and $6m in September 2006 respectively, as well as its series C rounds. Packetmotion’s series C rounds secured $7.5 in August 2007 and $8.4m in December 2010.
