Remedy Health Media is acquiring the online health company, which has raised almost $60m from backers including Interactive Corp. and the Carlyle Group.

Health information and technology company Remedy Health Media acquired US-based online health resource HealthCentral on Tuesday for an undisclosed amount.

HealthCentral had raised $53.1m in February 2008 from internet company Interactive Corp., Carlyle Venture Partners, and venture capital firms Polaris Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital.

Carlyle, Polaris and Sequoia previously participated in a $6m round the year before, while boutique investment bank Allen & Company is also an investor.
