The corporate venturing unit of US-listed search engine provider Google has joined a consortium investing $1.25m in Smarterer, a US-based skills measurement services.

Serial entrepreneur Dave Balter, CEO, founded the company in October 2010.

The company has developed an algorithm that validates and quantifies digital, social and technical skills using an 800 point scale.
