Italian insurer invested through its Generali Financial and BSI subsidiaries in VisionCare's $31m series E round.

VisionCare Ophthalmic Technologies, a US-based maker of telescopes for people facing blindness, has raised $31m in its series E round with Italian insurer Generali joining the consortium as a new investor.

The Italian firm invested through its Generali Financial and BSI subsidiaries in VisionCare.

Two venture capital firms were also new investors in the series E: Saints Capital, which led the round, and Giza Ventures. Return backers were Pitango Venture Capital, Three Arch Partners, Onset Ventures and Newbury Acquisitions…
